7. CSI Church

A reminiscent of the glorious past of Munnar is the 100-year-old CSI Christ Church. Built in Gothic style by the British in 1910 in memory of Eleanor Knight, who died of malaria in 1899. Henry Knight, her husband, was supposedly a missionary, and the church was built in front of the small hut where she was buried. Many Britishers were laid to rest in the cemetery at the back of the church, and now visitors come from Britain to find the resting place of their forefathers.

The church is open to visitors from 8:30 AM to 6 PM. Entry is free, but donations are welcome to help with the church’s maintenance.
